I-80 Reconstruction Project

I-80 is a major east-west transportation route that is an important link in the nation’s interstate system. It is the second longest interstate highway in the United States, connecting downtown San Francisco, California to Teaneck, New Jersey. As one of the country’s three coast-to-coast interstates, I-80 through Joliet and Will County carries approximately 80,000 vehicles a day, about 25 percent of which are trucks.

The Illinois Department of Transportation Reconstruction project for I-80 includes 16 miles of the interstate located in Will County. It begins at Ridge Road to the West and ends at US Route 30 to the East.

CEP Engineering is happy to announce that we are one of the prime contractors on this multi-year major Construction project. CEP is managing the Reconstruction of the Briggs Street Bridge over I-80 in Joliet, IL.

CEP team consist of Resident Engineer/ Liaison Engineer, and Veteran construction inspectors along with subcontractors including TRANSLAND ENGINEERING GROUP, providing the Assistant engineer, ATLAS ENGINEERING GROUP providing for Documentation Engineer and Surveying, and INTERRA, INC. providing for Highway Materials Testing, Coordination, and QA/QC quality controls.

CEP construction team has experience working on WisDOT and municipality projects.

STH 82 Resurfacing Project
(Marquette County, Wisconsin)

CEP Engineering was the prime contractor on this 5.6 miles of STH 82 Resurfacing project in Marquette County, WI. The project consists of;

• 5.64 miles of miles of milling and HMA overlay
• Cold-in-place recycling (CIR) asphalt pavement
• Replacing culvert pipes and culvert pipe lining
• Railroad crossing reconstruction including coordination.
• Traffic control, base aggregate, pavement marking, and rumble strips.

CEP provides services in civil engineering surveying & mapping, including: Topographic Survey, Design Survey, Boundry Survey, Plat Design & Construction Staking.

We use a robotic total station which allows a survey crew to be reduced to a single person and provides a high degree of precision under most any environmental and weather condition. We also use a Global Positioning System (GPS) where there is a clear view to the sky for communication with satellites. GPS allows our surveyor to work independently and can cover a larger area than a robotic total station without having to reset instruments.

With our interdisciplinary mapping and Geographical Information System (GIS) we provide our clients with the information they need to make informed decisions, quickly, and easily.
